This page answers the most commonly asked questions from new and existing QuestCraft users. If your question isn’t covered here, the Discord server is the best place to get a fast, accurate answer.

General

Yes. QuestCraft itself is free and open source — there is no charge to download or install it. However, you must own a valid, legally purchased copy of Minecraft: Java Edition to play. QuestCraft does not include or distribute the game itself.
No. QuestCraft is an independent, community-driven open-source project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Mojang or Microsoft in any way. It is built and maintained by the QCXR team using open-source tools including Vivecraft and Pojlib.
No. QuestCraft runs entirely standalone on your VR headset. You do not need a gaming PC, a USB link cable, Quest Link, Air Link, or Virtual Desktop. Simply sideload the APK onto your headset and play directly in your headset.
Download the official APK from the GitHub releases page:https://github.com/QuestCraftPlusPlus/QuestCraft/releases/latest
⚠️ Do NOT download from questcraft.net. That site is not owned or maintained by the QuestCraft team and could host malware. The only official website is questcraft.org.

Compatibility

QuestCraft officially supports:
  • Meta Quest 2 — Fully supported, native build
  • Meta Quest 3 — Fully supported, native build
  • Pico Neo 3 — Supported
  • Pico 4 — Supported
  • Pico 4U — Supported
  • Other standalone Android HMDs — May work; not officially tested
For the full compatibility table, see Supported Headsets.
No. QuestCraft is a port of Minecraft: Java Edition only. Bedrock Edition (the version available on the Meta Quest store natively) is a completely separate codebase and is not supported.
No. QuestCraft uses Fabric as its mod loader, not Forge. Only Fabric-compatible mods built for the specific Minecraft version you are running are supported. Installing Forge mods will not work and may cause crashes.
No. Shaders are not supported in QuestCraft due to the constraints of Android mobile GPUs. Attempting to use shader packs is not recommended and may cause instability or crashes.
Yes. You must own a legal, valid copy of Minecraft: Java Edition purchased through Mojang/Microsoft. QuestCraft does not include the game and cannot be used without a legitimate account. Pirated or cracked accounts are not supported.
Use the same Microsoft account that is linked to your Minecraft: Java Edition purchase. When you first launch QuestCraft, you will be prompted to sign in with your Microsoft account credentials through the on-screen prompts in the launcher.

Support & Community

The best place to get support is the official QuestCraft Discord server:https://discord.gg/questcraftGo to the #bot-commands channel and use the Need Help? button to submit your logs for troubleshooting. For confirmed bugs (that are not mod compatibility issues), you can also file an issue on GitHub:https://github.com/QuestCraftPlusPlus/QuestCraft/issues
No. The QuestCraft dev team does not create TikTok videos and has no official TikTok presence. Any TikTok content claiming to be from QuestCraft is unofficial and may be inaccurate or misleading.
Yes. You can support the development team on Patreon:https://patreon.com/QuestCraftXR

Technical

On first launch for each Minecraft version, QuestCraft must download all required game files. This process takes approximately 10 minutes depending on your internet connection speed. During the download, do not remove your headset — doing so may cause your display to sleep and interrupt the file transfer, requiring you to restart the download.
Performance on standalone hardware is limited. Try these settings to improve frame rate:
  1. In the options menu, go to VR Settings → Stereo Rendering and set the resolution to 80%. This reduces visual quality slightly but provides a meaningful performance boost.
  2. Set your render distance to 4–6 chunks. Values of 9 or above are not recommended and will likely cause lag spikes.
  3. Consider playing Skyblock or Oneblock worlds, which have fewer loaded chunks and lower hardware demands.
For more performance guidance, see the tips in the QuestCraft README.
