The first time you open QuestCraft, you won’t jump straight into a world — instead, the launcher walks you through signing in with your Microsoft account and downloading the Minecraft: Java Edition game files directly to your headset. This is a one-time process per Minecraft version, and once it’s done subsequent launches go straight to the Play button. Keep the headset on and stay patient; the download can take around ten minutes depending on your internet connection.

First-Launch Steps

Open QuestCraft from Unknown Sources

Put on your headset and navigate to your app library. Filter by Unknown Sources and tap QuestCraft to launch it. The QCXR launcher will load.

Grant All Requested Permissions

On first open, QuestCraft will present several Android permission prompts. Accept all of them. These permissions allow the launcher to write game files to storage and run correctly. Skipping or denying any permission can prevent game files from downloading properly.

Sign In with Your Minecraft Account

Follow the on-screen prompts to sign in with your Microsoft account linked to your Minecraft: Java Edition purchase. QuestCraft does not store your credentials — this step simply authenticates you with Mojang’s servers to confirm you own a valid licence.

Press Play and Download Game Files

Once signed in, press the Play button. QuestCraft will automatically begin downloading all required Minecraft game files for your selected version. This takes approximately 10 minutes depending on your internet speed, and must be completed once for each Minecraft version you want to play.

Wait for the Game to Load

After the download finishes, Minecraft will begin to load. With the default included mods, this takes 1–4 minutes depending on your headset. The built-in log viewer displays real-time progress so you can see exactly what’s happening during startup.
Do not take off your headset while game files are downloading. Removing the headset may cause the screen to sleep or the app to suspend, which can interrupt the file transfer and leave your installation in an incomplete state. Stay in the headset until the download is fully complete and the game has started loading.
Keep an eye on the log viewer built into the QuestCraft launcher — it shows a live feed of download and loading progress. If something appears to stall, the log viewer will usually indicate which file or step is in progress, making it much easier to diagnose any issues.

Switching Minecraft Versions

QuestCraft supports multiple Minecraft versions (1.19.2 & 4, 1.20.1, 4 & 6, and 1.21.1 + 4 & 5). Each version requires its own complete game-file download the first time you select it. Use the built-in launcher to switch between versions — the auto-updater will also keep installed mods and other Minecraft components up to date in seconds.
