If something is not working as expected, this guide covers the most frequent issues players run into with QuestCraft. For anything not answered here, the quickest path to a resolution is the #support channel in the QuestCraft Discord, where the community and dev team are active.Documentation Index

Installation Issues
APK won't install
APK won't install
Make sure Unknown Sources (also called Developer Mode on some headsets) is enabled in your headset’s settings before attempting to sideload. Without it, the system will silently reject any APK that was not installed through the official store. If the toggle is already on and the install still fails, try uninstalling and reinstalling SideQuest, then reconnect your headset and drag-drop the APK again.
App shows as damaged or corrupted
App shows as damaged or corrupted
This almost always means the APK file itself was corrupted during download, or it came from an unofficial source. Re-download the APK directly from the official QuestCraft releases page and install only from there. Never install APKs sourced from third-party sites.
Login / Account Issues
Can't sign in with my Minecraft account
Can't sign in with my Minecraft account
QuestCraft requires a valid, purchased licence of Minecraft: Java Edition. Free or trial accounts will not work. Additionally, your Java Edition purchase must be linked to a Microsoft account — if you have an older Mojang account that has not been migrated, complete the migration on Minecraft.net first, then try signing in again.
Login times out or keeps spinning
Login times out or keeps spinning
A timeout during sign-in is almost always caused by a weak or intermittent internet connection. Check that your headset is connected to Wi-Fi, move closer to the router if needed, and try again on a more stable network. If the problem persists, restart your headset and reopen the launcher before attempting another sign-in.
Game Files / Download Issues
Files stop downloading mid-way
Files stop downloading mid-way
During the initial file download, do not take off your headset. Removing the headset can cause the display to sleep and interrupt the file transfer. If the download was already interrupted, restart the QuestCraft launcher and press Play again — it will resume from where it left off.
Download is taking forever
Download is taking forever
The first-time setup for each Minecraft version downloads a significant amount of data and typically takes around 10 minutes on a good connection. This is completely normal. The exact time depends on your internet speed. Leave the headset on and the launcher open until the progress indicator confirms the download is complete.
Performance Issues
Game is laggy or stuttering
Game is laggy or stuttering
Two settings have the biggest impact on performance:
- Render distance — Keep it at 4–6 chunks. Values of 9 and above are not recommended on standalone headsets and will cause frequent lag spikes.
- Stereo Rendering resolution — In the options menu, go to VR Settings → Stereo Rendering and set the resolution (not camera resolution) to 80%. This gives a meaningful performance boost at a minor quality trade-off.
Game crashes immediately on load
Game crashes immediately on load
A crash on load is most often caused by a mod conflict or an incompatible mod. Check
latestlog.txt (located at Android/data/com.qcxr.qcxr) for a Fabric error at the bottom of the file. See the Mod Crashes guide for step-by-step instructions on isolating and fixing the problem.General Issues
Black screen after pressing Play
Black screen after pressing Play
A black screen during launch is normal behaviour, especially on Quest 2. The game can take anywhere from 1 to 4 minutes to fully load with the default mod set. The launcher’s log viewer will show progress — wait for it to indicate that Minecraft has started before assuming something is wrong.
Can't find QuestCraft in my app library
Can't find QuestCraft in my app library
Because QuestCraft is sideloaded rather than installed from the Meta store, it will not appear in the main app library. Look under the Unknown Sources section of your headset’s app library. If it is not there, the APK may not have installed successfully — check the SideQuest install log and try again.
