A cut point is a specific location in a vehicle’s electrical system where a GPS tracking device can interrupt a circuit — typically to enable remote immobilization. Each cut point record in GPSpedia identifies the exact wire, its location in the vehicle, its color, and the relay configuration required to complete the installation safely.

Cut types

GPSpedia recognizes four cut point types:

Bomba de Combustible

Fuel pump cut. Interrupting this circuit prevents the engine from receiving fuel, immobilizing the vehicle without affecting the ignition system.

Señal al Botón

Signal to button cut. Used on push-button start vehicles — interrupts the signal between the start button and the ECU.

Corte de Ignición

Ignition cut. Interrupts the ignition circuit, cutting power to the vehicle’s primary control systems.

Apertura de Puertas

Door release. Identifies the wire used to trigger central locking or door release — useful for integration with GPS devices that include a door control output.

Cut point detail view

Tapping a vehicle record from the catalog or search results opens the cut point detail modal. The modal is divided into several sections.

Vehicle overview

The top of the detail view shows:
  • A vehicle image (tap to open in the high-resolution lightbox)
  • The vehicle’s brand, model, applicable versions, and year range
  • An ignition type label
  • A notaImportante alert box (shown in red when present) — read this before proceeding with the installation
When a Nota Importante appears at the top of a record, it contains critical information about the specific vehicle — such as known wiring variations, safety precautions, or conditions that affect which cut point to use. Always read it before starting work.
The first cut shown is labeled Corte Recomendado. This is the cut point with the highest number of community votes from other GPS technicians who have marked it as useful. It includes:
FieldDescription
Cut typeThe category of interruption (see cut types above)
LocationDescriptive text indicating where in the vehicle the wire is found
Cable colorThe wire color to identify at that location
Relay configurationThe relay wiring scheme required — tap the name to open the relay info modal
Cut imageA photo of the actual cut point location (tap to enlarge)

Alternative cuts

If a record includes additional cut point options (up to three total), they appear below the recommended cut in collapsible Accordion sections. Expand them to compare alternatives — for example, when the recommended cut location is inaccessible on a specific vehicle variant.

Supplementary sections

Below the cut points, the detail view may include:
When present, this section shows the wire used to trigger central locking or door release — separate from the main immobilization cut points. Includes the wire location, color, and an installation photo.
Power supply wire information for the GPS device itself — identifies where to tap into a constant 12V source. Includes photo documentation.
An embedded YouTube video showing how to disassemble the relevant part of the vehicle’s interior to access the cut point location. The video stops automatically when you close the modal.

Cut image interactions

Each cut image supports two actions via overlay buttons:

Mark as useful

Tap the Marcar como útil button (thumbs up) to vote for a cut point. Your vote:
  • Turns the button green immediately (optimistic UI)
  • Is stored in your local session so you cannot vote twice for the same cut
  • Contributes to the community ranking that determines which cut is shown as Corte Recomendado

Report a problem

Tap the Reportar un problema button (warning icon) if the cut point information appears incorrect, the photo does not match the vehicle, or you encounter another issue. You will be prompted to describe the problem before it is submitted to the GPSpedia feedback system.

High-resolution lightbox

Tap any cut image or vehicle photo to open it in the lightbox viewer at full resolution. GPSpedia serves images at three resolution tiers:
ContextResolution
Cards and thumbnails300 px
Modal detail view800 px
Lightbox (full resolution)1600 px
Use the lightbox when you need to identify a specific connector or wire bundle in a crowded harness — the 1600 px images reveal detail that is not visible in the standard modal view.
