Any authorized contributor can submit new vehicle records to the GPSpedia catalog. Submissions go through a three-stage wizard that checks for duplicates, captures cut point data, and optionally collects supplementary installation information.

Who can add records

Record submission is available to all logged-in users who have been granted contributor access. If you do not see Agregar Nuevo in the side menu, your account does not yet have contributor permissions. Contact your administrator to request access.

Opening the add-record wizard

There are two ways to reach the form:
  1. Open the side menu and tap Agregar Nuevo.
  2. Navigate directly to add_cortes.html in your browser.

Submission walkthrough

The wizard has three stages. Stages 1 and 2 are required. Stage 3 is optional.
1

Stage 1: Vehicle verification

Fill in the vehicle information fields:
FieldDescription
MarcaVehicle brand (e.g., Toyota, Ford)
ModeloModel name (e.g., Hilux, Ranger)
Año DesdeFirst production year this record applies to
Tipo de EncendidoIgnition type (conventional, push-button, etc.)
CategoríaVehicle category (car, truck, motorcycle, etc.)
Versiones AplicablesEquipment trims or versions this cut applies to
As you type, the form queries the catalog for phonetically similar entries using fuzzy matching (Levenshtein distance). If the system detects a likely spelling variant, it displays a suggestion below the field:
Quizás quisiste decir: Toyota
Tap the suggestion to apply it. This helps keep brand and model names consistent across the catalog.Once you complete the fields, tap Verificar to check whether a matching vehicle already exists.
2

Stage 1.5: Match review

If the verification finds existing records that are similar to the vehicle you entered, a list of matches is shown. You must decide how to proceed:

Add cut to existing

Attach your new cut point to an existing vehicle record. Use this when the vehicle already exists but is missing this particular cut.

Add supplementary info

Add supporting data (cable feeds, aperture notes, important warnings) to an existing record without creating a new cut entry.

Create new

Start a brand-new vehicle record. Use this only when you are certain the vehicle is not already in the catalog.
If no matches are found, the wizard advances automatically to Stage 2.
3

Stage 2: Cut point data

Enter the details for the cut point. The following fields are required:
FieldDescription
Tipo de Corte 1Type of cut (power, ground, ignition, etc.)
Configuración Relay 1Relay wiring configuration for this cut
Ubicación del Corte 1Physical location of the cut on the vehicle
Color de Cable del Corte 1Wire color at the cut point
Imagen del Corte 1Photo of the cut location (required)
If you are creating a new vehicle record (not adding to an existing one), you must also upload an Imagen del Vehículo — a representative photo of the vehicle.Tap Guardar Corte when all required fields are complete.
4

Stage 3: Supplementary info (optional)

After saving the cut point, you can attach additional installation data to the record. All sections in this stage are optional.
Notes or diagrams related to opening or disassembling the vehicle to reach the cut location.
Information about the power feed cable, including location, color, and gauge.
Any critical warnings or caveats that other installers should know before working on this vehicle.
Each section also accepts supporting images. Tap Finalizar when done, or skip the entire stage by tapping the skip link. Either action returns you to the home screen.

Anti-duplication check

The checkVehicle function compares your Stage 1 input against every existing record in the catalog. It matches on brand, model, year range, ignition type, and equipment version. When it finds a close match, it surfaces those records in Stage 1.5 so you can attach your contribution to an existing entry instead of creating a duplicate.
Do not create a new vehicle record if a matching entry already exists. Use the Add cut to existing option in Stage 1.5 to contribute your cut point to the correct record. Duplicate entries reduce catalog quality and make it harder for other installers to find reliable data.

Contributor attribution

The Colaborador field is populated automatically from your session name. You do not need to enter your name manually. Make sure you are signed in with your correct account before submitting.
